Glen Hansard was an Irish singer-songwriter who won the Academy Award for Best Original Song with "Falling Slowly" from the film Once, in which he also starred. He was the frontman of The Frames, one of Ireland's most beloved bands, and later formed the duo The Swell Season with Markéta Irglová. Known for his raw, emotionally intense performances, he was killed in a traffic collision at 56 — one of the most shocking deaths of 2026.
