Jazz saxophone legend — Saxophone Colossus
Sonny Rollins was one of the greatest jazz saxophonists who ever lived, often ranked alongside John Coltrane and Charlie Parker. His 1956 album Saxophone Colossus is considered one of the finest jazz recordings ever made. He was famous for practising on the Williamsburg Bridge in New York to avoid disturbing his neighbours — a period that became jazz legend. He retired from performing in 2014 due to respiratory issues but remained an icon.
