Stephanie Cole came to prominence as Dr Beatrice Mason in the 1980s BBC prisoner-of-war drama Tenko and became best known as the gloriously cantankerous Diana Trent in the sitcom Waiting for God. She also played Mrs Featherstone in Open All Hours and Still Open All Hours, Aunt Joan in Doc Martin, and Carolyn Knapp-Shappey in the much-loved radio sitcom Cabin Pressure. Her agent announced that she died on September 18 at the age of 84.
