Brenda Fricker

Brenda Fricker won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Christy Brown's mother in My Left Foot, opposite Daniel Day-Lewis. She went on to appear in Home Alone 2 as the beloved "Pigeon Lady", a role that made her recognisable to an entirely different generation. She was open about the loneliness that could accompany a life in acting and lived quietly in Dublin.
